RE/MAX Gold Participates in UC Davis Children's Hospital Mediathon
August 15, 2018
RE/MAX Gold is committed to serving the communities we live and work in, through donating our time and our funds. Recently, many members of our leadership team had the opportunity to participate in a "Mediathon" on ABC10 to raise funds for UC Davis Children's Hospital (UCDCH).
“We are so honored to be included in this awesome annual event to raise funds and awareness for UC Davis Children’s Hospital! It is especially impactful to be on site at the hospital that will receive funds from the day’s work and to see where that goes and the difference that our donations make. We are looking forward to continuing to raise funds for all four of our CMN hospital—working on that quarter of a million dollars to help local kids this year!” — Stephenie Flood, VP of Operations
The Mediathon took place outside of the hospital's new level 1 Children's Surgery Center. UC Davis is the only hospital on the West Coast and the fourth in the nation to earn the verification of level 1 children's surgery center from the American College of Surgeons. This verification means the surgery center has specialty trained children’s surgeons in every discipline, with pediatric anesthesiologists and dedicated operating rooms for children available 24 hours a day.
"This was my third year helping with the CMN Mediathon. I would say my favorite part is always hearing the stories of the children and their families and how CMN has helped them through their tough times. Love seeing the smiles of the children." —Ken Brazil, Roseville Office Manager
RE/MAX Gold has been a corporate partner with UCDCH for many years, as they are the local Children's Miracle Network Hospital in Sacramento. Over the past 4 years, RE/MAX Gold has raised over $420,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals like UC Davis Children's Hospital. Last year alone, we raised over $205,000 thanks to the generosity of our "Miracle Agents", who donate a portion of their commission to CMN.
Steve Davies, El Dorado Hills Office Manager, believes the Miracle Agent program is a huge benefit of being a RE/MAX agent. "What a great opportunity to market the home as a Miracle Home, get some recognition in our community, and help build your business," he says. "It’s a small price to pay to help a local child in need! Look at what an impact we’ve already had collectively!"
John Shook, Elk Grove Office Manager, oversees our largest offices and regularly gives his time to various causes and events, but the Mediathon is one of his favorites to attend. "Being there, you see the passion and love from the people that are involved. It is one of those events that warms your heart. The excitement at the end when they announce the final number is great," say John.
The Mediathon, which began at 4:30 am and ended at midnight, raised over $523,000 during the event! All of the funds donated will benefit children in the 33-county service area served by the hospital.
"Giving back to the community who gives so much to us is so important to us at RE/MAX Gold. But even closer to home, UC Davis Children's Hospital has touched many of our lives personally—including mine, saving my life when critically ill as a baby. Had it not been for the state of the art physicians, programs and facilities offered here locally at UCDCH, I would not be here. THANK YOU to each and every agent who supports UC Davis Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network! Your generosity impacts us locally and makes a world of difference!" — Gina LaPlaca, Midtown Office Manager
We are proud partners of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and UC Davis Children's Hospital. It is such a privilege to donate to organizations that make an incredible difference in our communities and we can't wait to see how much we can donate in 2018!
