"Patch in the Park" Huge Success for RE/MAX Gold's The Goolsby Group
October 31, 2018
Last week, Geoff Goolsby of The Goolsby Group (formerly half of the team known as Jeff & Geoff), hosted a “Patch in the Park” in the Highland Reserve neighborhood of Roseville.
In the years past, Geoff and his team would set a pumpkin on the porch of every house in the Highland Reserve neighborhood, the suburban area that his business specializes in and also the community he calls home. With a growing neighborhood of over 1,800 families; it used to take 6 people about 3 days to place the pumpkins on each doorstep!
So this year, with a new name came a new tradition: “Patch in the Park”. Looking for a way to create more engagement and get a little bit more “face time” within the neighborhood, Geoff jumped head first into planning this festive, family event.
That morning, Geoff picked up nearly 2,000 pumpkins from Zittel Farms, a local pumpkin patch in Folsom; but instead of setting them on doorsteps, he created a pop-up style patch for the whole neighborhood to enjoy! With lines and lines of orange pumpkins placed in the park’s grassy field, the Goolsby Group was ready to greet their guests.
This free event drew a crowd of about 300 people over the course of just 2 hours in the park! With activities such as storytelling by the Friends of the Roseville Public Library to photo-ops with the infamous Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s “Hocus Pocus”, there was something for everyone to enjoy at the Patch in the Park.
Looking back, Geoff truly enjoyed the opportunity to meet members of the community and create engagement in the neighborhood. To Geoff’s surprise, some guests even took the time to thank him for his continued involvement in the community over the years, which was really special for him to hear.
When asked if he plans to make this an annual event, Geoff replied “Heck yeah, I’m going to do this next year! It was a such a great turnout that I’m going to continue to do this as long as I possibly can. I actually want to do it bigger next year—bigger, better and have more fun with everyone.”
While The Goolsby Group spearheaded the whole operation, Geoff acknowledges that it took a team to throw the party. Special thanks to Briana Milani of Sierra Oaks Insurance, Sean Aspendlind of Movement Mortgage, Zack Finley of Finley Home Services, Matt Bridge of Friends of the Roseville Public Library, and Steve Stosen of Notaries Express.
